Did you know that one of the most popular skin booster treatments in Korea is NCTF Filorga Injection (aka Chanel Injection)? This treatment is finally available in Singapore and Joy Kang shares her review.
About 3 years ago, I had my first NCTF Filorga treatment (known as Chanel Injection in Korea) in Seoul and ever since then this has been my go-to anti-aging and skin brightening treatment routine. Whenever friends and clients ask me for advice for a good skin rejuvenation procedure, I've been recommending this treatment and received many positive feedback. Also, Charlotte Cho, co-founder of Soko Glam also tried this treatment through Eunogo while she was in Korea and shared her review at the Klog. NCTF Filorga injection was also the procedure that I chose to do before my wedding to brighten and rejuvenate my skin tone and get that bridal glow.
This year in 2020, I've been asking a few clinics and aesthetics in Singapore whether they would like to bring this treatment to Singapore because first of all, many of our Singapore-based clients asked for it and secondly, I NEEDED IT. When Cheongdam Korean Skin Management, the first aesthetic to bring Korean facial technology and concept to Singapore, told us they will do this treatment, I screamed and immediately booked the first slot to compare my experience and result with my experience in Korea.
Just like my previous post about the Korean Facial in Singapore, I went back to the same Medispa, Cheongdam Korean Skin Management. Cheongdam Korean Skin Management is the first MediSpa to bring Korean skin management concept and technology to Singapore. English, Malay and Chinese-speaking staff are available at the spa. They have two outlets: one in Tanjong Pagar and one in Novena. The Tanjong Pagar outlet is their first branch, which is located in a cute and trendy Korean neighbourhood packed with colorful shophouses. It is surrounded by Instagrammable cafes and Korean restaurants. The Novena outlet is located inside a mall and is more spacious than the one in Tanjong Pagar. Both outlets maintain a consistent quality and offer the same programs and machines. Since I've been to the Tanjong Pagar branch before, I chose the Novena outlet this time.
WHAT IS NCTF FILORGA TREATMENT EXACTLY?
Having changed its name from NCTF Filorga to NCTF FillMed, this skin booster from France combines approximately 53 different kinds of minerals, antioxidants, and nutrients such as amino acids. It is an all-in-one skin rejuvenation treatment that is aimed at improving skin elasticity, diminishing wrinkles, getting that glazed skin texture with radiance, brighter and more even skin tone, increasing skin hydration, and tightening of pores.
At the aesthetics, it can be applied through 3 methods: Needleless, Microneedling or Booster Injection.
#1 Double Cleanse
Any skin treatment whether its a facial or invasive procedure, should start with a good cleansing. This is very important to get our skin ready and clean for the procedure.
#2 Enzyme Peel
Next step was enzyme peel. They used the Daily Botanicals Enzyme Peel from Oxygenceuticals in Korea, which is a post-procedure targeted brand and used by over 500 skin clinics in South Korea. This peel made with pineapple and papaya extracts and it gently exfoliates dull skin and
unclog pores to remove dead skin cells without causing irritation.
This peeling also helps to create a better effect for NCTF treatment. Natural papaya enzymes work to leave you with soft and smooth skin and assist in improved absorption of ingredients from the procedure.
#3 Numb Cream
Because I chose microneedling option, which is a bit invasive, I had to apply numbing cream which took about 20 minutes. The aesthetician mentioned that though for the best result, it is best to do microneedling without numbing when skin cells are active. However, I did not dare to do that and chose to get the numbing cream.
And finally it was time for the NCTF microneedling treatment. The aesthetician opened the bottle of NCTF Booster ampoule in front of me. I did not feel any sensation or discomfort. The whole process was smooth and painless.
How Microneedling works is that it creates nano-sized minimal incisions in our skin and therefore, the ampoule absorbs way better and deeper. This is good for people with expanded pores and scars or anyone who wants to rejuvenate and brighten skin. It boosts collagen production and makes the skin firmer. The microneedling took about 20-30 minutes.
After that, I got the aftercare mask to calm down my skin as well as the LED machine treatment which helps my skin to heal faster.
Then aesthetician applied Couperose Fluid which helps to calms down skin irritation after the procedure and helps the skin to heal and regenerate better. She does not recommend products that are too rich after the treatment nor sunscreen or makeup. It's best to apply a mild regeneration skincare product and avoid sunlight and take rest.
RECOVERY AND DOWNTIME
My skin was quite red right after the treatment and the redness can sustain for a few hours for some people or a day or two for some others depending on your skin type. After 2 hours, the redness started to subside and certain parts were darker as the aesthetician applied stronger pressure on where I had pigmentation and uneven skin tone.
Me right after the treatment...trying to smile but still numbed from the numbing cream
Aftercare at home is just as important. For aftercare, I used the Cryogenic Activator from Oxygenceuticals, which is both a mist and toner. I mist my face in the morning, during the day and at night, which really calms down any irritation and helped the skin to heal better. I also used a light serum called the Moisture Aqua Serum which contains high levels of hyaluronic acid and HA will aborb into my skin faster and deeper because my skin is still healing from microneedling. I use this after using this Cryogenic Activator. I also did sheet masking every day for 7 days. I used the YourFit Relieve n Power kit, which really helped to calm down any irritation and give the skin the right nutrients after the procedure.
My skin was completely healed after 2 days and after 7 days, I started to see the effect. My skin got much firmer and brightened as you can see. The results were very similar to what I got when I received the treatment in Seoul.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
I'm so glad that my favourite K-beauty skin treatment is finally here in Singapore so I can get my fix. 2020 has been rough because I wasn't able to get my regular K-beauty skin treatments that I used to get when I flew to Korea every few months. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the results were as good as the ones I got in Korea.
