Many of our customers often approach us for slimming treatments, but the top concern is always the invasiveness of the procedure. What if you could have a non-invasive procedure that gives you the results of liposuction? Dr. Yang Dong-jun from Cheongdam U Plastic Surgery shared with us a procedure that promises just that, called the Venus Laser.
Sounds too good to be true? Let's find out more about the Venus Laser from our interview with Dr. Yang.
Eunogo: What is Venus Laser?
Dr. Yang: Venus Laser is a facial liposuction laser procedure that uses a small tube of around 1mm size to deliver two wavelengths of laser (980 nm, 1470 nm) directly onto the dermis layer of the skin. Because it destroys only fat cells, unnecessary fat on the face can be removed without any damage to the nerves, blood vessels, or muscles. At the same time, it can induce continuous collagen production and thus improve wrinkles and elasticity.
The patient's face shape is taken into account and the contour of face is altered by simultaneously reducing both sagging and wrinkles. This laser kills two birds with one stone because it treats both the deep skin layer and skin fat layer, and increases skin elasticity. Among all the liposuction lasers, Venus Laser is the strongest and most effective out of all of them, and is often used as the standard.
Eunogo: What is the recommended age range and recommended area to receive this treatment?
Dr. Yang: It's a non-invasive operation that can be done in a short period of time, with no general anesthesia. It can be done in almost all areas of the body, including arms, chest, buttocks, abdominal, thighs and any areas with fat. The areas available for the face are forehead (for forehead wrinkles), between the eyebrows (for frown lines), cheekbones, cheek fat, double chin, and smile lines. The buccal fat and double chin areas are the most popular areas with high satisfaction among patients who want a more defined v-line.
Venus Laser is recommended for cases whereby:
- The face looks lifeless due to sagging chin
- The cheek is sagging after face contouring or double jaw surgery
- You want to get rid of excess fat
- You are worried that your face appears chubby due to cheek fat or chin fat
- You want to get rid of the fat on your face without any burden, with a quick recovery process
Eunogo: How long does it last? Is one session enough to see results?
Dr. Yang: Results last for 3 to 5 years depending on individuals. Yes, you do not need multiples sessions and this is one session program.
Eunogo: We heard that the Venus Laser is more popular on face. Is that true?
Dr. Yang: Yes. Because only fat cells are melted by special wavelengths of Venus Laser, it is the best way to maximize liposuction and lifting effects while minimizing side effects such as sunken cheeks and irregular skin surface.
Eunogo: What effects can you get with the Venus Laser?
Dr. Yang: Fat cells are removed from the area so you can expect a slimmer and more defined face/body shape. If Venus Laser and Thread Lifting are paired together, the results may remain longer. After the fat is removed, the thread holds the position of the face as it recovers, and even after the threads disappear, the results will still last in that position. Below are some the results after getting Venus Laser on the thigh and arms.
Eunogo: What are the differences from other lasers?
Dr. Yang: As Venus Laser is a localized sophisticated procedure, there is little tissue damage and side effects. In the case of a similar type of laser, which used to be widely used in the past, the skin near the surface may get burned or become hyperpigmented if the medical staff lacks experience in the procedure. On the other hand, Venus Laser has the ability to melt and remove the fat close to the skin without these side effects, and has a special wavelength (980nm&1470nm) to erase forehead and under-eye wrinkles and provides a lifting effect. It is also a safe procedure approved by the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA).
Eunogo: This laser is good for skin elasticity and recovery, but are there any side effects?
Dr. Yang: There are no procedures or surgeries without side effects, and this relatively safe Venus Laser may also have side effects such as sunken areas or changes in feeling in the area of the procedure. In normal cases, abnormal feeling or bumps return to normal after a recovery period of one to two months. However, it is important to see a specialist who can perform the procedure properly, with careful consideration of the patient's condition and complexion because excessive use of the laser can have side effects that will not go away. With 20 years of extensive surgical experience, senior plastic surgery specialists in CDU Plastic Surgery thoroughly check the depth and condition of each individual's face fat, skin thickness, and wrinkles. It's not just a treatment to get rid of fat, it's a one-to-one customized plan that takes into account the skin elasticity as well.
Eunogo: Are there any post-procedure precautions?
Dr. Yang: You should adhere to the following precautions after your procedure.
- To prevent infection, we will attach a band to the area where you got the procedure, and you can remove it when you wash the area after 24 hours.
- For two days after surgery, elevate the area of the procedure higher than the heart, so that swelling can be minimized.
- Apply cold packs for about 3 days after the procedure, it will help to reduce swelling and bruising.
- Antibiotics should be taken to prevent infection.
- You can wash your face and make-up from the day after surgery, and avoid sauna and massage for a month after surgery.
